Fashion Friday: Spring Couture Fashion 2010

Did you feel the fabulous radiating out of NYC this week?  Well, of course you did, it's Spring Fashion Week.  Here's a recap of Spring 2010 Couture.  Next week, we'll be featuring our favorites of the Spring Ready to Wear and Fall Ready to Wear...

In Spring 2010 Couture, we're feeling the rise of the ruffle and bow, a really feminine palate of easter egg colors as well as saturated jewel tones,  and an entering into an ethereal space age.

Christian Dior - My personal favorite...

depression chic: spring trends 2009

i was pursuing one of my favorite fashion websites, style.com, and i came across the Spring 2009 report.

check out these categories:
  1. depression chic
  2. geometry lessons
  3. goddess worship
  4. marrakesh express
  5. sporting goods
  6. trash and vaudeville
i think depression chic is ironically close to melancholy chic (which, as you know, is the term i use to define my style). So I vote for depression chic (though trash and vaudeville is a CLOSE runner up, but by name only. upon further examination, i fell in love with the goddess worship).

this shirt dress by bottega veneta is smart and sexy and i think i need it.

this flowing smock by preen is so intriguing.

if my style were as low-maintenance as the i-just-woke-up-and-decided-to-wear-this-sheet, then i would want it to be this sheet by donna karan.

if were aimlessly wandering the summer streets of nice, i would want to be lost in this gorgeous gown by Halston.

consider this part of my last will and testament: i would like to be buried in this (by Max Azria)

take a gander at the collection if you want, but whoever invented the term 'depression chic' seriously owes me some royalty fees.

which collection do you gal(s) vote for?
~happily enjoying fashion from afar,
mme.

p.s. if i were to be cast in a new terminator movie, i would want to play the she bot wearing this!

Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2009

oh dear!
i happened to stumble upon this article featuring Marc Jacob's Spring/Summer 09 collection, and I believe my little heart quickend a bit. I have thought, for some time now, that his recent collections have been a bit lack luster and not memorable enough, but spot on, mr. jacobs, spot fucking on!

I love this article where his collection is described as Mary Poppins goes to Dubai.

But then again, you had me at Mary Poppins.

you know, for me...it may sound mellow-dramatic, but i really believe in this line. it's ART! you know? finally, it's ART...and the woman's figure has got to be the most inspiring muse available to fabric. and not only is it ART, but it's something we could easily wear wandering the streets of monmarte, eating petie fours, sliding down mahogany banisters, and jumping into sidewalk chalk pictures.

oh this has excited me so today. now go and look at the whole collection and agree in a nodding of that prim little head when i say this collection is "practically perfect in every way."
