Hotel du Petit Moulin

OMG!
OMG!
OMG!
DID YOU KNOW THAT CHRISTIAN LACROIX HAS A HOTEL IN PARIS????!!!!

Breath, Candace.
Okay, sorry.

But seriously, just ran into this information today and checked out the website (which, incidentally is genius).  Oh the luxury that awaits those with enough Euros.

LE FABULESQUE!

Feel Good Activity: Snoqualmie Falls, Washington.

These last few weeks have been rough for a good many people in my life.  One of those lovely people was instructed by her therapist to engage in a "feel good" activity.  What is one thing that you can spend five minutes a day doing that can provide you with positive thought and peace?  Her answer was looking at the ocean, or really any body of water.  She even narrowed it down to which body of water, and decided that Snoqualmie Falls in Snoqualmie,Washington held a special place in her soul.  We decided we needed to find a good picture of the falls to contemplate daily.  I immedately jumped on flickr...and here are a few of my favorites.

This is also a sneaky manipulation to try to remind Kelly of Washington.

Snoqualmie Falls Mosaic 1
1. Blue mists at Snoqualmie Falls, 2. Snoqualmie Falls, 3. The Fisherman, 4. Snoqualmie Falls

Snoqualmie Falls Mosaic 2
1. Snoqualmie Falls   2. Another perspective of Snoqualmie Falls   3.Snoqualmie Falls, 4. Untitled

Snoqualmie Falls Mosaic 3
1. green water or just a reflection?, 2. Snoqualmie Mist, 3. misty skirts, 4. snoqualmie

She's right.
I already feel refreshed.

What would be YOUR feel-good activity?
Mine might just be looking at beautiful pictures on flickr...or taking them.

wanderlust

You know that scene in Chocolate where Vianne opens the windows to the strong north wind and she finds he must indeed uproot her daughter and move on? Well, I also have this wanderlust - this desire to escape and start over...to listen to something as mystical and illogical as the wind to give voice and direction to my own journey. It wouldn't hurt to have those freaking fabulous red capes Vianne & Anouk wear either.

This love of travel and opportunity to start over gives birth to a great love for maps, and I love this series of map paintings from artist Rachel Ann Austin. She was recently featured on etsy in an article "Quit Your Day Job." Two of my favorites:
Dobbyn

Manzanilla

So while I was wandering on Etsy - a valid form of escape from my computer-induced aching neck, back, and wrist - i found Bellatrix Art- whose work is very graphic and cartooned, but also somehow abstract and entirely enchanting and seductive somehow.

Into the East

Can we please spend another day dreaming of foreign lands? Yesterday I needed that breath of quiet as a means of escape. Today I hope to use it as means of inspiration as I step through the doorway out of the shade of my melancholy into the light of a renewed spirit.

From Penelope Loom (above) and Sarah Jane (below).

It is no great secret that my soul does not belong in America but rather in the Banyan trees and rice fields of the East. I know the history there would seep up through my toes and a connection far older than my 28 years would be completed.

A picture of quiet (above) and serenity (below).

What do you say Mme.? Will you sail away with me for one more day? Under a blue sky heavy with thunder, in a boat big enough for two?
