Cottage of Dreams

So much about this tent makes me want to be sitting on that bed, pretending to read as the breeze plays with the pages.

Or here, sipping port in my drawing room while I cross my legs under the great weight of my dinner gown...dipping my plume into ink and scribbling wildly about my adventures as an Elizabethan.
Because there would be many...
walks in the moors
parties at the neighboring manor
marriage match-ups
nosy gossiping
and rainstorms where ankles get twisted and men ride up on their white steads to rescue you.

Dreaming up a life today,

Backyard Scrabble

A friend's mom found this and forwarded it on to me. Though hilarious in concept, I'm pretty sure this would get miserable pretty quickly. Unless, of course, one had a cocktail.  Wait, isn't that the key to enjoying just about everything?  My poor liver.

A Diary Collection

I follow NPR on facebook, which is a very resourceful way to get one's news, I might add.  The other day they featured a story where they collect old diary entries.  It's part of their Hidden World of Girls project, and I think it's just remarkably beautiful.  The entry is accompanied by a write-up by the author years later.  In fact, I think they are taking entries still...maybe I should go through some old journals.

Do you love pork?

A new restaurant just opened in West Seattle.
Even if you don't like pork (you know who you are), how can you resist the NAME?!!!

Apparently, it was a preexisitng butcher shop called the Swinery, but the restaurant is called
I want to go to there.

P.S.
This reminds me of Andy Bellfleur grunting,
"PIIIIIGGGGG" in True Blood...apparently I do a killer impersonation.

Words on Furniture

I saw this before/after on Design Sponge last week and have been just walking around in a daze ever since.  Who said it was okay to put WORDS on furniture? Why didn't I think of that?
And "Summer Day" by Mary Oliver is one of my favorites.
I'll tell you what I'll do with my "one wild and precious life..."
Let's put words on EVERYTHING!!!!

Pretty Compost

Spied this COMPOST bin on Pinterest (pretty much where I've spent 80% of my internet time lately).  How freaking chic...and what better way than in a pretty bucket must a (new) country girl learn to compost?

If you must go virgin...

Huckleberry Maple-Blossom would certainly fit the bill.
(But wouldn't it be so much better with a bit of Hendricks?)
Bottoms Up!

You can find this beverage at Nettletown in Seattle... originally seen here.

The Garden is Calling...

It's way too gorgeous a day in Seattle to be inside on my computer.
Let's go play in the dirt.

Summers on the Road

Happy Friday!  It's starting to really feel like summer as my sister and I drive
north on the West Coast.  We're cranking up Queen's greatest hits and letting the
wind blow like crazy through our hair.

I love Road Trips in June.

Favorites for your Friday

The internet is a miraculous thing.  I fall in love with it more and more each day.  Today's post is a nod to all the amazing (100+) blogs I follow.  Though I usually do find many inspiring clicks to keep my mouse busy, today was an extra frenetic day on the internet.  I could NOT STOP the clicks.

And here they are, my favorite internet findings for your lovely Friday.

This Eurasian Martini has lychee, sake, vodka, mint, and pomegranate juice.  DELISH!

I want this loft bed so badly!

Clara helped me blog today.
(Excuse my bandanna and bedhead.  I'm packing the kitchen for the big move.
Now I am off to enjoy a pabst.)

Happy Friday!

Hotel du Petit Moulin

OMG!
OMG!
OMG!
DID YOU KNOW THAT CHRISTIAN LACROIX HAS A HOTEL IN PARIS????!!!!

Breath, Candace.
Okay, sorry.

But seriously, just ran into this information today and checked out the website (which, incidentally is genius).  Oh the luxury that awaits those with enough Euros.

LE FABULESQUE!
(a new word invented by yours truly)
